How it works
Weekly SSP is the lower of £123.25 or 80% of average weekly earnings. Daily SSP = weekly rate ÷ qualifying workdays.
A worked example
With weekly earnings of £600 and five qualifying workdays, 10 qualifying days gives an estimate of £246.50.
What to keep in mind
2026/27 estimate for qualifying days from the first day of illness, up to 28 weeks. Eligibility, linked periods, employer schemes, tax, payroll rounding and non-qualifying calendar days are excluded.
A common question
Should I enter calendar days or qualifying workdays?
Enter only days you would normally be required to work. The calculator uses those qualifying days to derive the daily rate.
