How it works
First 6 weeks = 90% of average weekly earnings. Remaining paid weeks = the lower of £194.32 or 90% of average weekly earnings.
A worked example
Average weekly earnings of £650 gives £585 a week for the first 6 weeks, then £194.32 for the remaining paid weeks.
What to keep in mind
2026/27 Statutory Maternity Pay estimate. Eligibility, qualifying weeks, employment history, enhanced employer schemes, tax, National Insurance, pension deductions and payment timing are not assessed.
